Creativity and Food

I just returned from the MM&C Conference and we had a booth to attract prospects. Sarah did a great job creating a booth that was inviting and creative not to mention the outstanding cupcakes. People would never just walk by. They would smile, engage and many times ask what we do! Was it my charm and charisma? I doubt it. It was the creative concept that caught the attention of the crowd and the food helped them linger around and get to know us.

Battling the Negative

Everyday I need to protect my mind from the negative voices & forces that surround me. I do this by starting the day off giving gratitude to God for everything that I do have. This squashes the tendency to focus on what I don’t have. In addition, I focus on living each day in the present and not worrying about tomorrow. These are simple tools to manage life, but difficult to practice on a consistent basis.

College Adjustments

I am picking up my some from college today. He has been away for nine months, so there will be adjustments on both ends. Life itself is a work in progress with adjustments made each and every day. I must say I do prefer my boy’s bedroom to be filled versus empty. We will see if this changes as the summer progresses.

Networking Tips

It is event season and I will be attending a few conferences to promote a software solution. Need to keep in mind the following:

Show up with positive energy- Positive Energy Attracts!

Focus on the quality versus the quantity of leads. After the event, it is follow up, follow up and follow up. Stay in touch with relevant information.

Always be the giver not the taker.

Fighting Laziness

It is a battle each day to remain consistent and focused. To combat laziness, I set up tasks and boundaries every day to help get things accomplished. Master the mundane, like following up with prospects who never seem to respond.

Pay the Price

We all want to nice things in life- a nice home, car, vacations etc. What we/I need to realize is that there is pain & suffering that comes along with the nice things. Am I willing to make the prospect calls necessary each day? Do have the fortitude to withstand rejection. Embracing the suffering will lead to the joys of life.

Patience- Fill Your Bucket

I was watching Bob Goff preach and he really stressed the need for patience with  people. “Immense Patience,” says Bob.  “Need to carry a bucket and keep filling it with patience.” This is a good reminder for me as I go through the day with prospects, customers, colleagues, friends, my wife and teenage boys. It is also why some refer to patience as Long Suffering!

Details Make All The Difference

During our day, we must remember the details make all the difference. Conrad Hilton from the Hilton hotel chain always said their success was based on always Tucking in the Shower Curtain. As I go through my day, I must keep this in mind when writing emails, speaking on the phone and overall attitude. Paying attention to the small details will push the needle  toward greater customer loyalty and profitability.

Easter

This is a special time of year for me and Christians around the world. Something happened 2,000 years ago before the bible was ever written. A man named Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead. There were eyewitnesses to this event. Jesus said that those who believe in him will have everlasting hope! This is my hope and the hope of the world!

Serving the Poor

I have the opportunity tonight to ask the community for money to support the Fredericksburg Christian Health Center/FCHC. FCHC is dedicated to helping the poor and less fortunate in our community. The goal for this year is to serve 1,000 more patients. The really neat part about FCHC is that they can address the physical and spiritual needs of the patient. Pain is God’s megaphone to rouse a deaf world!
