Small Gestures

It is the small gestures that really grab the heart. Whether on the business or personal side, leading with the heart always leaves a strong impression. Make someone a cup of coffee, pick a friend up at the airport or send an unexpected note. I need to be reminded each day to Think Small!

Do What’s Scary

I was listening to a video from Darren Hardy this morning on how to make more money. He shared that move toward doing the things other people find scary and you’ll make a lot of money. For me, it’s been making phone calls to prospects and public speaking. I am still working on both, but they have proven to be very profitable.

Neighbor

Reread the Good Samaritan story yesterday and it helped me refocus my thinking on neighbors. Jesus’ story really helps clarify who he considers to be a neighbor. I need to continue to be vigilant about looking for people who need m y help regardless of their skin color, religious affiliation, economic status etc. People are People and my heart needs to remain open to all.

Be The Light

As I begin my day today, I am reminded that each us can positively impact the conversations and relationships that we come across during the day. I want to be a blessing to all I touch and keep my eyes open to those who need my encouragement. Make it a great day!

Customer Service- Think Small

I visited the Great Wolfe Lodge last weekend and was impressed with the customer service, mainly regarding the small things. For example, I was bringing my dirty plate up to the buffet and asked the service staff if we needed to clear our table. She promptly replied, “We handle that.” At that point, she took my dirty plate from my hand and replaced it with a clean one to go through the buffet. It those small things that really have an impact on the overall customer experience. I need to think small today.

4 Reminders

The following have been my reminders for each day:

Scorecard- The rent for success is due each day. Keep score on how you are doing when nobody else is watching.

Humility- Continue to work toward washing the feet of others and putting on an apron to signify servant attitude.

Vulnerable- You can do a better job connecting with people through your weaknesses versus your strengths.

Generosity- Continue to look for ways to out give God. Be a blessing to somebody each day!

Feeling Valued

I just listened to an interesting video from Darren Hardy. He shared how important it is to show appreciation and positive feedback. He suggested sending a letter to a parent of a child who has been behaving above expectations or calling the manager over at a restaurant when a waiter or waitress goes above and beyond. We all need to feel valued by another!

Doing

The habit of doing will make you happy. The greatest regrets come from hearing and not doing. This is biblical- right from the Book of James. Andy Stanley outlined being prepared for our next season in life in his series Pack Your Bags @ Northpoint Church.  Good stuff!
